DCEmpanadas, the first mobile purveyor of the savory stuffed pastry, is less traditional than its brick and mortar counterparts, offering choices like the Jersey Shore (stuffed with meatballs, marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese) and the Ménage à Trois (brie, figs and Marcona almonds). Prices range from $3.50-$4.50.

DC Empanadas was founded by Anna & Shawn Leis, a couple who loves international food from streets around the world. DCE is a locally owned business that focuses on fresh ingredients and unexpected flavor combinations, scratch-made daily. We use seasonal local ingredients when possible.
Anna was born in Guatemala and developed a love for food and cooking at an early age. Shawn, a native of Silver Spring, has a background in finance but is a connoisseur of delicious food. We have both lived in the Washington, DC area most of our lives and decided to start DC Empanadas to bring our unique twist on empanadas to the nation’s capital.
